Acceptance
Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in Hurghada in a private, air-conditioned vehicle and transfer you to Luxor for an overnight stay. Upon arrival, you will be met by your personal tour guide who will accompany you to visit:
Karnak Temple
Karnak Temple is a unique site, where the majesty of the heavens is revealed, surrounding it with unparalleled beauty and grandeur. The temple was known as โIpet-Isuโ (meaning โMost Chosen Placeโ) and โBeit-Amunโ (meaning โHouse of Amunโ) when it was built over 4,000 years ago. Karnak is considered one of the largest religious monuments ever built by humankind for over 1,500 years. It was a center for the worship of various deities, including Osiris, Ptah, and Isis, but was primarily dedicated to the Theban Triad of Amun, Mut, and Khonsu.
โฆThen you will proceed to:
Luxor Temple
Built over hundreds of years by Amenhotep III, Ramses II, Tutankhamun, and other pharaohs, Luxor Temple was the largest and most important religious center in ancient Egypt. In Thebes at that time, the Luxor Temple was the โplace of the first occasion,โ where the god Amun was reborn during the pharaohโs annual coronation ceremony. Today, the remains of this vast complex include the enormous Great Hypostyle Hall, approximately 61 meters long and featuring 28 columns, each 21 feet tall. Tutankhamun lavishly decorated it around 1330 BC. Many of the templeโs side walls were demolished after the pharaohsโ reign and reused as building materials.
Lunch Time
Lunch will be served at a local restaurant in Luxor overlooking the Nile, after which you will return to your accommodation.
Afterwards, enjoy a captivating tour of the majestic Valley of the Kings:
Valley of the Kings
The grandeur of this breathtaking site, with its incredible discoveries, has accumulated over history, earning it its place among other iconic landmarks. Among the discoveries in the Valley of the Kings are the tombs of Ramses II, Amenhotep I, Hatshepsut, and Tutankhamun, dating from the 16th to the 11th centuries BC.
Temple of Hatshepsut
The construction of the Temple of the Revered Queen Hatshepsut is one of the most significant events of the 18th Dynasty. The templeโs exterior features numerous sculptures that belonged to the queen, in whose honor the temple was built.
Colossi of Memnon
Completed around 1350 BC, the Colossi of Memnon were already a popular tourist destination by the Greco-Roman period, more than a thousand years later. Legend says that the northernmost statue whistled at sunrise, possibly due to a crack in its body caused by an earthquake in 27 BC. Ancient Greek and Roman visitors attributed the statues to the African king Memnon and considered hearing the statueโs song a good omen, believing it to be the kingโs cry greeting his mother, Eos, the goddess of dawn.
Head to the hotel for dinner and bedtime.
Day 2: 4:00 AM โ Hot Air Balloon Ride in Luxor
A hot air balloon ride in Luxor is one of the most spectacular land adventures visitors to Luxor can experience. The flight lasts 45 minutes, and the balloon can accommodate between 12 and 34 people. At an altitude of approximately 2,000 feet above the ground, youโll feel the spirit of the wilderness coursing through your veins. You may have already explored Luxor by land, but the balloon ride guarantees a more thrilling historical journey, as youโll see every center of ancient Egyptian history, from the Temple of Hatshepsut to Luxor Temple, as you soar through the sky.
